Here the rainbow pattern is combined with the V-shape. In this pattern the combined knots are introduced, because we’re going to reverse the pattern twice.
The pattern is explained elaborately in small parts, so you can work through it piece by piece.

Used colors:
Red: 2085; Orange 2064; Yellow 2040; Green: 2574; Blue 2430; Purple 2322; Pink: 2201

Usage:
1 Repeat of the V-shape (pink to red) is about 2,5 cm (1 inch) long. For each repeat about 8,5 cm (3.3 inch) of thread is needed. The pattern to step 5 of part 3 of the pattern is about 10 cm (4 inch) long

Part 1 of the pattern

Rainbow in V-shape basis
Rainbow in V-shape basis

Description:

1. Start with placing the threads in the order as shown in the upper part of the picture. So, from left to right: pink, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange and red and vice versa.
2. Start with making a V-shape (see here) with subsequently pink, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange and red and repaet this pattern again as many times as you wish. You have to end with a red V-shape.

Part 2 of the pattern

When the last red V-shape is made, we’re going to start reversing the motif. The upper rows are left out in the pattern for the sake of convenience.

Rainbow in V-shape part 2a

1. Make 4 double right knots with the pink thread on the left around subsequently the purple, blue, green and yellow thread. Then make the right/left combination-knot around the orange thread, so that when this knot is made, the pink thread will end up on the left side and the orange thread on the right side. Do the reverse on the right side. Make 4 double left knots with the pink thread on the right around subsequently the purple, blue, green and yellow thread. Then make the left/right combination-knot around the orange thread, so that when this knot is made, the pink thread will end up on the right side and the orange thread on the left side.

2. Make at the left side 2 double right knot with the purple thread around blue and green. Then make the right/left combination-knot around the yellow thread, so that when this knot is made, the purple thread will end up on the left side and the yellow thread on the right side. Do the reverse on the right side. Make 2 double left knots with the purple thread on the right around subsequently the blue and green thread. Then make the left/right combination-knot around the yellow thread, so that when this knot is made, the purple thread will end up on the right side and the yellow thread on the left side.

3. Make a right/left combination-knot with the blue thread on the left around the green thread and the left/right combination-knot on the right side. The upper part of the side-points is made.

4. Finish the purple point on the left side by making two double left knots with the purple thread around subsequently the green and blue thread. Finish the purple point on the right side by making two double right knots around subsequently the green and blue thread.

5. Finish the pink point on the left side by making four double left knots with the pink thread around subsequently the yellow, green, blue and purple thread. Finish the pink point on the right side by making four double right knots around subsequently the yellow, green, blue and purple thread.

6. Finish reversing the motif by making six double left knots on the left side with the left red thread in the middle around subsequently the orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and pink thread. On the right side make six double right knots with the red thread in the middle around subsequently the orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and pink thread.
Now the reversed V-shape in red is made.

7. To make the reversed V-shape with the other colors, work each time from the center to the sides. Start with making 7 double right knots with the left orange thread around the right orange thread and further on to the right around the right yellow, green, blue, purple, pink and red thread. The orange thread has ended now completely at the right side. Finish the reversed V-shape by working with the orange thread that’s still in the middle to the left by making 6 double left knots around the left yellow, green, blue, purple, pink and red thread. The orange thread has ended now completely at the left side.
8. Do the same with the yellow, green, blue, purple and pink thread. Work each time from the middle to the sides.
Repeat the reversed V-shapes again from red to pink before we start with another reversion of the motif. If you wish you can repeat the reversed V-shape several times, but end with a pink reversed V-shape.
